Kollab Environmentally Friendly Materials!

Here at Kollab we have our eyes firmly focused on the future, and for us, this means making sure our products are as sustainable and as environmentally friendly as possible.

We use a range of fabrics to ensure our products are practical, versatile and functional, as well as being as gentle as possible on the environment. We are excited to let you know our entire Holiday Collection including our Picnic Bags, Holiday Tote and our Picnic Mats are also partly made from recycled RPET materials.

What is RPET?

RPET is the short name often used for recycled polyethylene tetraphyte (PET). This is the worlds 4th most common plastic resin, used in everything from food packaging to clothing. When you see the word ’RPET’ it simply means that the PET in the product we are offering has come from a recycled, pre-existing source.

The good of RPET..

This material is extremely durable and versatile and unlike other plastics, PET can be recycled and used again, and given that RPET takes plastic that has already been created, usually plastic bottles, and chops the bottles into tiny flakes then melted to separate the core PET ingredient inside the bottle which in turn can be used to make anything from a sweater to a picnic mat and form a new product.

Not only is it up to 50% less energy used than making PET from scratch, but by using existing bottles already created, it ensures these bottles don’t end up in landfill. In turn leaving the planet as is, rather than obtaining the core ingredients by using more damaging processes to extract these materials.

We also have our PAPER range. The PAPER range is made using washable kraft paper. The raw material is natural fibre pulp and is made without any harmful substances. The Washable Paper material can be recycled. We have also paired this fabric with our vegan leather look handles, taking the environmentally friendly aspect up a notch and making it stylish.

We are committed to continuing our sustainability development and are constantly seeking new and innovative technologies to make sure we are as progressive as possible in our design and manufacturing process. We can’t thank you enough for your support and we are excited to take you along on our journey!
